This Friday we are adding two more taps for a total of 8, and releasing two new beers: Keelhaul Imperial Red Ale and Rye Not Have Another Roggenbier. Keelhaul Imperial Red Ale is loaded with a huge malt bill and hop flavors. Brewed with Warrior, Cascade, Summit, and Chinook hops this deep copper colored beer clocks in at over 10% ABV! Rye Not Have Another Roggenbier is a dark German Style Rye beer. Rye lends it spicy flavors that compliment its light noble hop notes.

Inspired by traditional Belgian brewing practices, Fond de la Mer is an homage to our brewing forebears, the Trappist Monks, who in medieval times were the harbingers of brewing knowledge. A simple pale malt backbone presents a banquet worthy of the blessed for our Belgian yeast strain to devour, resulting in a delightfully spicy, fruity, and snappy Belgian-style ale. French for “Bottom of the Sea,” Fond de la Mer is a golden treasure that is sure to please the Gods above as well as the denizens of the deep. Plus, When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, drink beers to feel better! 'Bodacious Pizza’ will be out front with their brick oven from 3-9 pm!

We are honored to host the post-ride celebration, on Friday 9/9, for a charity ride benefiting the Roc Solid Foundation. This local charity builds hope for kids with cancer thru playhouses and room remodels. Six riders will participate in this two-day ride from Richmond to Norfolk raising over $30,000 for the charity. The girls from 'Lucky Peach’ will be on-site to help keep your tummy full.

Beer Release, The Bold Mariner Brewing Company, 12 - 9:00 pm, 2409 Bowdens Ferry Rd., Norfolk. India Red Ale Release Party. The first IPA was brewed by the British in order to solve the problem of beer spoiling on its voyage to India to supply British troops. The high alcohol and hop content prevented the beer from going bad and the added vitamins fought off scurvy in the men. Since then many variations have been created. An India Red Ale is an American red ale brewed at a higher strength and hopped like an IPA. Our Bold Mariner, IRA is a red ale with firm maltiness and bursting with tropical fruit flavors from El Dorado hops rounded out by notes of caramel, toffee and biscuit. Come out and try our newest Fall Seasonal! Plus enjoy food by 'Karnage Asada’ food truck.

2nd Annual O'Ctoberfest, O'Connor Brewing Co., 12 - 9:00 pm, 211 W 24th St, Norfolk. We’re bringing back this HUGE event for a second year! At our O'Ctoberfest we celebrate the famed German beer festival on its traditional date, but of course we’re doing it O’Connor style! It’s all centered around the release of our O’Ctoberfest beer–a Marzen-style lager that’s brewed with Pilsner, Vienna, and Munich malts; German Magnum hops and Pacific Gem hops. At the beginning of the day, we’ll be ceremonially rolling out a huge barrel of this beautiful beer to kick off the festivities. Then, throughout the day, we’ll have beer festival games–including a Stein Hoisting Competition!–and all sorts of lawn games. Bring your appetite because we’ll have two delectable German food trucks on-site. Gerty’s Gourmet Kitchen and Deutscher Imbiss will be dishing up delicious German fare, like bratwursts, schnitzel and pretzels. We’ll also have a live musical performance by our favorite beer-loving band, the Esoteric Ramblers, who have added some German festival songs to their set just for the occasion. Headlining the evening are The Special Guests, whose unique fusion of dance, funk, jazz and rock will have you up on your feet and shimmying the night away! You’ll be able to enjoy the whole festival outside and in, rain or shine–because we’ll have our beautiful, new, shaded beer garden and outdoor bar open for communal drinking/eating.
