Shuck it up with the return of Smartmouth’s Annual Oyster Roast, and this year we're bringing the bull. As Jonathan Swift once said, “He was a bold man that first ate an oyster,” so be bold and join us for a day of salty bivalves, pit-cooked meats and tasty beer. Five years ago TAPPED Gastropub opened its doors. Since then we have been working hard to make TAPPED the best that it can be. Come get TAPPED with us. Also, five years ago a not so well known cello player came to our Tapped open mic. He took the stage, began playing his cello and then opened his mouth to sing. Sat, Feb 24 - Music by the Pint Fest 2018 / Benefit Concert benefitting the Children of Soundscapes, Hosted by Tradition Brewing Company, 6:30 - 10:30 pm, 700 Thimble Shoals Blvd., Newport News. MUSIC BY THE PINT FESTIVAL is Newport News' newest music festival and all for a good cause of supporting Soundscapes and the children it serves! The festival will be held for 5 days at 5 venues in Newport News and feature a different band each night. Music by the Pint glasses will be sold at the door and proceeds will benefit Soundscapes. ROCKY 7 is a 7 piece band of musical All Stars from Hampton Roads. The brainchild of Fuzz Band cohorts Nik Madry and Duane Smith; Rocky 7 is an ode to coloring outside of the lines, having fun, and a tribute to musical schizophrenics everywhere. With inspirations ranging from Black Sabbath and the Foo Fighters to Maroon 5, Lorde, Beyonce, and Paramore, the band promises a night of epic memories, music, high intensity, sweat, and an unforgettable show of Rock, Alternative and Top 40 hits. With regular shows up and down the east coast this relative newcomer to the cover music scene has already begun booking gigs well into the 2015 season. Comprised of members from various seasoned bands, Rocky 7 will bring the energy, musicianship, and songs to get the party started and keep it going! Fri, Mar 9 - Shamrockin' in Ghent 2018 / St. Paddy's Block Party, 6 - 10:00 pm, Colley Ave., Norfolk. Southern Bank presents Shamrockin’ in Ghent, which is Hope House Foundation’s annual St. Patrick’s Day block party on Colley Avenue in Ghent. The fun includes live music from Tidewater Pipes and Drums, The Deloreans, and The Fighting Jamesons! There will also festive adult beverages and delicious food from Belly Full Food Truck! Sat, Mar 10 - 7th Annual St. Kiuchi Day at The Birch, 1:00 pm - 12:00 am, 1231 W Olney Rd., Norfolk. The Birch was only three months old when the Earthquake and Tsunami disaster happened on March 11, 2011 in Japan. When we heard that the Kiuchi Brewery had stopped production to bottle water for nearby villages, despite their buildings sustaining their own damage, we wanted to help. St. Kiuchi Day was an event created by The Birch seven years ago. What started as an event featuring only a case of Hitachino beer has turned into a full brewery tap takeover and tasting event! The Parade steps off at 10 am on March 17, 2018. Don't miss the After Parade Party, presented by the Knights of Columbus of Ocean View at the Columbian Club starting at noon at 211 W. Government Ave., featuring live bands: Tidewater Drive (outside) and TBA (inside the Hall). Plenty of food and refreshment vendors will be available as well.


Sat, Mar 17 - OBC's 8th Anniversary & St. Paddy's Day Celebration, 12 - 10:00 pm, O'Connor Brewing Co., 211 W 24th St., Norfolk. Join us as we celebrate O'Connor Brewing Co.'s 8th anniversary and St. Patrick’s Day at our first big party of the year! Start off the day with Irish dancers from 12:30-1:30 pm. We’ll have live Irish-themed music from Celtic trio Glasgow Kiss from 2-5 pm. And from 6-8 pm is Lara Hope & The Ark-Tones, a Roots & Rockabilly band from Kingston, NY. We will have a lineup of specialty stouts, crafted exclusively for this event. As always, we'll have our World Beer Cup Award winning ODIS, a staple for any St. Patrick's Day party, including Nitro ODIS in cans. Oh, and of course, GREEN BEER! All of our food trucks will be creating and serving Irish-inspired menu items, special to our event! This day marks the official 2018 re-opening of our beer garden.
