Local Weekend Brew Happenings in Tidewater VA


Fri, May 1

- Charlotte Hour, LYNNHAVEN PUB, 5-8:00 pm, 2236 W Great Neck Rd., Virginia Beach. Our good friend Charlotte will be out on the patio sampling some tasty brews. Come by, talk beer with her, and grab a ready brew.

- Friday Firkin, COGAN'S PIZZA NORTH, 6:00 pm, 4311 Colley Avenue, Norfolk. On Fridays we tap a cask ale from local or regional Craft Brewers. Tonight we feature Norfolk’s own Smartmouth Brewing. Come out and enjoy some REAL BEER!!!

- Food Truck & Music Fridays, ST. GEORGE BREWING COMPANY, 4:30-8:00 pm, 204 Challenger Way, Hampton. There is nothing better that starting your weekend off with Live Music (starting around 6:30 pm), Food Trucks, and Beer. It’s a match made in heaven (or Hampton if you’re a local)!

- Free Green Flash Beer Tasting, HAIR OF THE DoG BOTTLE SHOP, 5 - 8:00 pm, Duke of Gloucester St., Williamsburg. Join us with our Reps from Green Flash Brewing Co., to try their: West Coast IPA, Double Stout, Soul Style, and Road Warrior and grab a growler to go from one of our 8 Taps, or large selection of craft bottles and cans.

- Town Center Craft Beer Festival, 1 - 6:00 pm, Town Center, Market St, Virginia Beach. Over 50 craft beers from over 25 breweries will be available for sampling at the Virginia Beach Craft Beer Festival. Tickets include sampling and live entertainment.

- 2nd Annual Yorktown Blues, Brews, and BBQ - a Festival on the River, Riverwalk Landing, 12 - 6:00 pm, Water Street, Yorktown. This event will showcase some of the best Blues musicians in the Hampton Roads area & beyond. Add that to 26 craft beers, incredible BBQ, and other gourmet foods and you have the makings for an incredible day. http://villageevents.org/brew/entertainment.htm

- Big Brew Day, HOMEBREW USA, 8:00 am-3:30 pm, 5802 Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. A family friendly brew party in the parking lot in front of the store. This is a super fun event when all levels of brewers bring their equipment, from a simple propane burner and pot for extract brewing to custom propane and electric allgrain setups and brew beer! This is a great chance to see lots of different brewing setups and talk about different aspects of brewing with other local brewers. We will be providing a water source and some electricity for pumps. Food will also be available but you may bring a food dish to share. So come brew or just hangout and have a great time!

- Beer Release, REAVER BEACH BREWING COMPANY, 12-9:00 pm, 1505 Taylor Farm Rd., Virginia Beach. Join us for a joint release of our collaboration with our friends at Adroit Theory Brewing Company: We present BLACK FLAG EMPIRE, a black saison fermented in Cabernet barrels. 8.3% ABV, 65 IBU. This beer will be on tap at both Adroit and the Reaver Beach taproom.

- Brews and Tunes, SMARTMOUTH BREWING COMPANY, 12-7:00 pm, 1309 Raleigh Avenue #300, Norfolk. Live Music with 'Cole Stevens and the Delta Daggers’ from 4:30-6:30 pm, and Delicious food from 'The Coop’.

- Downtown Hampton Block Party, 6 to 10:00 pm, Queens Way, Hampton. From country to hair bands to local favorites, each week is something new. This week: Live Music by Party Fins. Spend your Saturday nights on The Block this summer.  Bring a chair and watch the band or bring your appetite and sample food from our vendors or from one of the many independently owned downtown restaurants. We get charities to run the beer tents and let them keep the tips.  They get to spread the word about their good deeds and we get cold beer served with a smile.

- Kentucky Derby Hat Contest, ALEWERKS BREWING COMPANY, 12-8:00 pm, 189-B Ewell Road, Williamsburg. From the fantastic to the sublime, there are no rules or limits. Put on your finest hat in honor of "the most exciting two minutes in sports" this Saturday in the taproom and receive pint specials. Compete for best hat (to be judged at 6 pm) if you dare! A mint julep randall creation will be featured for the big day as well.

- The Mariner’s Craft Beer Festival, 12 - 5:00 pm, The Mariner’s Museum and Park, 100 Museum Dr., Newport News. Live music, good food and great beer all in the unique setting of The Mariners’ Museum and Park. This year featuring 16 craft brewers and a new “Cask-Off” competition. Ticket price: $30 for Members in Advance, $35 for General Admission in Advance, $45 Day of the Event for all, $15 for Non-Drinker. Your ticket includes 20 craft beer tastings, a souvenir tasting glass live music by two Hampton Roads bands, food vendors, and day’s admission to The Mariners’ Museum!

- Sunday Brewer’s Series, LAGERHEADS BEACH PUB, 2-5:00 pm, Hilton Garden Inn, 3315 Atlantic Avenue, Virginia Beach. Come meet the Brewers or Brewery Reps and try their beer. We’ll have give-aways and steal the pints, it’s perfect to be here sipping with a friend.

- Five Points Farm Market & SIN, O'CONNOR BREWING COMPANY, 12-6:00 pm, 211 W. 24th Street, Norfolk. Who doesn’t love a farmers market? If you’re like us, then come out and get your locally-grown fruits & veggies, canned goods, and more as our friends at Five Points Community Farm Market will be featured in our outside lot every First Sunday of the month starting in May and going through September! And it’s Service Industry Night, so if you work in a bar or restaurant, we’ve got an exclusive happy hour just for you! Please bring in a recent pay stub as proof that you’re an industry employee.

- d'Art Strong Fundraiser, SMARTMOUTH BREWING COMPANY, 2-5:00 pm, 1309 Raleigh Avenue #300, Norfolk. On April 17 an explosion at the Selden Arcade caused damage to the d'ART Center and Artists' Studios. The City of Norfolk closed the Selden Arcade to complete the investigation of the cause and to assess necessary repairs. The City is beginning those repairs and will restore use to the d'ART Center and it's resident artists' studios. Join us this Sunday for a Local Fundraiser for the d'ARTists. Tickets at the Door: $35 for 2 Smartmouth beers and lunch provided by The Lucky Peach and Leilani's Lunchbox  or $25 for lunch and a soft drink. Live Music by Jacob Vanko, Mountaintide, and Who We Are Not. Raffles, Wearable Art Festival 2015 Encore, Plen Aire Artists, and Silent Auction. The d'ARTists thank you for your kind support!

- Waffletina Brunch, THE BIRCH, 11:00 am-3:00 pm, Chelsea, 1231 W. Olney Rd., Norfolk. Join us for Brunch at the Birch, with our favorite Pop-Up Waffletina. They'll have delicious waffle creations to pair with one of our fine selections of Coffee Stouts or other refreshing selections, maybe a sunny Cider?

- Blues & Brews, MANHATTAN'S NY DELI & PUB, 3-7:00 pm, 601 Thimble Shoals Blvd, Newport News. Every Sunday we hold our “STEAL the PINT” with Live Blues. There is so much “Blues” talent in the 757 and we are excited to have these local musicians at “THE PUB”!

- First Annual Bluegrass, Beer, and Barbecue in the 'Burg Festival, MUSCARELLE MUSEUM OF ART, 1-5:00 pm, 603 Jamestown Road, College of William & Mary, Williamsburg. This family oriented event will bring together the community for a day of fine craft beer from local Virginia breweries, barbecue sauce tastings, as well as plenty of barbecue to go along with it. - Pint Night, PARK LANE TAVERN, 5:00 pm, Peninsula Town Center, Hampton. Our regular Monday Night Pint Night! We’ll also have Live Music from Brian Sewell at 6:30 pm.
