Upcoming - Save the date, Sat Aug 15, Bottle Release: Ruse de Gurre. A spontaneously fermented wild ale, refermented in oak barrels with black currants using our mixed culture of wild yeast/souring bacteria native to Coastal Virginia. The name “Ruse de Gurre” comes from the somewhat dubious practice of colonial-era ships carrying flags of other nations, sometimes flying them to confuse an enemy or lure him close. Pirates were no strangers to this practice themselves. “Ruse de Gurre” translates to “Ruse of War”.

It’s a Southern themed spread, including Chicken and Dumplings, pulled pork, pecan pie, and possibly peach cobbler among other delights. Minimum donation for eating is $3 but feel free to give more. All proceeds from the food go to K-9 New Life! In addition, volunteers will be present with dogs who need a good home. Feel free to bring your own four-legged fur baby along, or come by if you’re looking to adopt a new one. These are great people and great dogs!

The Taphouse Grill is our casual outdoor bar and grill that celebrates a more contemporary Virginia than our historic neighbors across Duke of Gloucester Street. The menu features seafood, chicken and beef, highlighting Virginia specialties such as oysters, crab, and fresh produce. Steamed whole Virginia blue crabs are available during the summer.
