Bottle Release, Reaver Beach Brewing Co., 12 - 9:00 pm, 1505 Taylor Farm Rd., Virginia Beach. Delicately shepherded and patiently awaited: The Red Messenger, an oak-fermented sour red ale, returns. This beer is special to us, as the original iteration of it was the very first wild beer we made. This second blend of The Red Messenger is tied directly to those original barrels. Not only did the wild yeast and souring bacteria come from the same grown-up (and now Coolship fed) Mother Culture, one of the original barrels was emptied into the fresh Foeder where The Red Messenger now begins its life. That means a proportion of this liquid has spent over 30 months in oak. It’s been an amazing series of leaps from that humble little stack of barrels to the thousands of gallons of wild beer we currently have aging in oak. This beer embodies that journey. The Red Messenger is 7.0% ABV, 8 IBU. It will be available on draft and to go in 750ml bottles on Saturday, March 25th. There will be no bottle limit.

Beer Release, O'Connor Brewing Co., 3 - 10:00 pm, 211 W 24th St., Norfolk. Walk Off Kolsch: In baseball, you can rocket a double into the left-center field gap or try and beat out a perfectly placed bunt down the third base line. You can make an incredible diving catch, or your knees can buckle on a filthy curveball with the bases loaded. But only on the rarest of occasions will you see a Walk Off-a game-winning hit by the Norfolk Tides that sends the crowd home from Harbor Park with an unforgettable memory. Our version of this famous Kolsch-style Ale-which we have brewed in collaboration with the Norfolk Tides-is extremely clear, very crisp, and has subtle hints of pineapple and pear. A very sessionable and easy-drinking brew that pairs perfectly with warm summer days and cooler nights at the park, Walk-off Kolsch is the ideal beer to start (and end) the game.
